Reagan: A Life in Letters, which I edited with Martin Anderson and Kiron Skinner, was published September 23, 2003, was featured on the cover of TIME magazine's September 29 issue, and is available at bookstores--1,100 letters written by Reagan over the course of his life, few previously published, many from closed archives and private collections as well as the Ronald Reagan Library open collections. It's hard to read these letters and believe that Reagan was simply reading other people's lines as President. The book contradicts the interpretation offered in the upcoming Showtime movie (November 30) "The Reagans" of Nancy as the driving force in politics or policy. More about the book at The Free Press's web site, including links to buy the book.
